Born in Normal, Illinois. Lived in Kentucky, worked as an optician, bought a camera when his son was born to take family photos. Joined a camera club and met other photographers who influenced him, including Minor White. Primarily used medium format Rolliflex camera. Focused on the idea of masks of identity using his family on weekend outings and visits to derelict areas. Died at age 46.
