Shelf Of Shame

The shelf of shame!

That special place where pieces go when they're not quite ready to be fired in the kiln they were set to go into. The usual reasons are there is glaze on or too near the bottom of the piece (as in the photo), the glaze is on too thick or thin, it was placed to go in the wrong kiln, or (for greenware) there was no name on it, or it was unfinished/poorly made/an ashtray or something equally special and artistic that is better placed in the slop bucket.
